I will not pretend to have extensive knowledge of Dragon Ball Z but I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to Superman. My main sources of information will be the comics, the TV shows, the DBZ wiki and the DC Comics Database. We will examine each fighter and then determine who wins in the respectable areas.
First up is Superman
- Superhuman Strength: The exact limits of Superman's strength is unknown. Superman's known feats include moving various planets by use a giant chain, and having the strength necessary to transform coals into diamonds. Exposure to a white sun can exceed Superman's "normal" strength level.
Here we have a sneeze so powerful from Superman it destroys a solar system.
Here we have Superboy moving a galaxy with ease.
So here we have it on several occasions Superman moves planets.
Here is the biggest show of strength for Superman. He's pretty much bench pressing the Earth for five days and he's not tired.
I could only find one feat of strength of Goku and that was him pulling apart a mountain and that's Superman on a bad day. Of the DBZ I've watched I have not seen Goku approach the level of strength Superman is shown to have.
And for good measure I have included Superboy Prime. He is Superboy from another dimension...all of the powers of Superman but none of the morality. He became a murderous villain and nearly destroyed the multiverse. He shattered reality with a punch.
HE. SHATTERED. REALITY....with one punch.
Test of Strength goes to Superman.

"I could only find one feat of strength of Goku and that was him pulling apart a mountain and that's Superman on a bad day. Of the DBZ I've watched I have not seen Goku approach the level of strength Superman is shown to have." Wait, so you did this comparison WITHOUT using Goku as a Super Saiyan?? I think you need to understand the DBZ universe better to make a proper comparison. I know both the Superman and DBZ universe and the comparison listed above is poorly researched for the DBZ side.
ReplyDeleteis that goku pulling apart the mountain in the opening credits? I completely agree with nancy103. You need to do more research before you make blanket statements. Perhaps go back and read the manga or watch more episodes. I expected this article to be a little bit more in depth than one person posting a bunch of comics and saying they have only watched a little bit of dragon ball.
ReplyDeleteI created this to create a dialogue to determine who was stronger. I searched the internet and could not find acts of strength from Goku. Have we seen Goku pushing planets? Have we seen Goku destroying a solar system with a sneeze? How strong is Goku? Whats his max strength level? According to the DBZ wiki Goku in SS4 mode lifted half a city and was winded after that. Superman is pushing planets and galaxies with ease. By the evidence it appears Superman is stronger.
ReplyDeleteOK first off I would like to inform you that I am not knowledgeable with superman series and secondly can you please use some references? I have seen everything from Dragon Ball Universe and I don't remember Goku lifting a city in SS4 mode, but considering that in the DB Universe they can blow up planets in the first saga of Dragonball Z - the Saiyan Saga, I would be very surprised that it is difficult for the main characters to lift a city. After the Saiyan Saga the series exponentially increases in "power level" going from around 30k to over 1 million.
ReplyDeleteI understand that these numbers are arbitrary, but it does give you some reference as to how powerful the characters in the DB Universe truly are. After the Freiza saga they no longer use power levels to describe their strength, Goku has learned a new skill that allows him to instantly teleport anywhere in the universe. This means that Goku is technically faster than the speed of light because he can go from one end of the universe and back within seconds.
After the Cell saga, Goku is able to teleport beings into the afterlife (as he does to Cell before he blows up the earth). Therefore he has now reached a multi-dimensional technique. Now let’s go into the Majin Buu saga. Goku has sacrificed his life because he realizes that if he is alive, the earth will always be in danger because someone will come looking for a fight with the strongest person and leaves the responsibility of protecting the planet to his son Gohan.
In the Majin Buu Saga, Goku has trained for 7 years in the afterlife, training with the strongest people in the universe, which is broken up into 4 sections (North, South, East, West). Majin Buu is a sinister being and is considered a treat to the universe by the supreme Kai (the person in charge of the universe) Majin Buu has the power to tear apart a dimension (this is seen by him just yelling to escape the hyperbolic time chamber) he even annihilated the population of earth in a single attack without destroying the earth (I have yet to see, Superman sensing out everyone on earth and attacking them with a single attack). Goku manages to beat Majin buu by collecting all the energy from every living thing on the earth and having a wish restore his energy to full.
After the Majin Buu saga (We are now analyzing the new movie that just came out) Goku has taken on the responsibility of training Ubuu who is the reincarnation of Majin Buu. He is called into action by the Supreme Kai because the 7th god of destruction Lord Bills has awakened from his sleep. So right now, Goku has the strength comparable to a God as Lord Bills has the strength to destroy universe with ease.
All of this happens before Dragon Ball GT. I’m not going to fill you in on what happens in Dragon Ball GT, but basically the final enemy of Dragon ball GT is the Omega Shenron. Who was created by all the evil in the universe. In order to beat Omega Shenron, Goku creates a universal spirit bomb, where he collects all the energy from every living thing in the universe into one giant energy ball and disintegrates Omega Shenron. At the end of Dragon ball GT, Goku absorbs the dragon balls and becomes a God himself.
As I said before, I have a biased opinion when looking at who would win, as I don’t really know much about the superman universe, but I don’t believe superman ever reached a point where he is considered a God and could teleport in between dimensions. If I’m wrong could you please inform me?
Also just to note, that Goku's son was blowing apart mountains at a power level of roughly 1200 and Piccolo managed to blow up the moon when his power level was roughly 1400 with his special beam cannon. Just to give you an idea, the strongest character in the DB Universe is a combination of Vegeta and Goku called Gogeta. It is estimated that SSJ4 Gogeta has a power level of 2.5 billion according to the dragon ball wiki.
